Sinopsis:
Sejak menancapkan kekuasaan di tanah Jawa, perjalanan panjang Dinasti Mataram selalu dipenuhi dengan pertikaian. Sejarah mencatatnya sebagai 'ontran-ontran' Dinasti Mataram. Salah satu ontran-ontran itu, mengakibatkan Dinasti Mataram terbelah dua. Melahirkan kerajaan baru, juga raja baru yang bertahta. Film ini dimulai 250 tahun kemudian setelah raja baru dan keturunannya bertahta, tepat setelah kerajaan baru Dinasti Mataram itu usai dilanda bencana besar... Kembali ke masa lalu, menyusuri Jalan Pangeran Mangkubumi, untuk menemukan sosok 'Manusia Setengah Dewa'. Dan saat kembali menatap masa depan, kerajaan baru itu harus siap melangkah dengan sebuah budaya baru...

Kata gue, film ini akan membawa lo kembali ke masa lalu. 250 tahun lalu lebih sedikit. Bahkan dari Jogja, kisahnya akan dibawa ke Keraton Mataram Surakarta yang letaknya 62 kilo meter di Timur kota Jogja. Tanya sana-sini pada keluarga kerajaan, tapi akhirnya kita sadar bahwa pencatat yang lengkap adalah para ahli sejarah. Semua dilakukan untuk mengenal sosok yang tahun 2006 ini mendepat gelar 'Pahlawan Nasional' dari Pemerintah Republik Indonesia, karena dengan mengenal sosok itu, kita akan menjadi tahu, mengapa pada tahun 2006 ini rakyat Jogja harus menanggung bencana yang ditulis koran sebagai ' Derita Zaman Ini'. Sosok yang akhirnya terungkap itu memang telah tiada berabad lampau, tapi warisannya, bakat-bakatnya masih menurun hingga kini. Bahkan, tanah tempat gue lahir ini, juga menciptakan raja-raja kecil yang kekuasaannya lebih dahsyat dari Tuhan, gempa mengakibatkan ribuan rumah rata dengan tanah, dan raja kecil itu pun tak mau kalah, meratakan tujuh rumah dengan tanah juga. Kata gue, sejak dulu, rakyat lah yang menanggung derita bagi penguasa yang berjaya.
Setelah melewati keberuntungan beruntun sehingga dapat mengikuti berbagai workshop film dokumenter. Manusia Setengah Dewa adalah dokumenter gue berikutnya. Emosi saat menyelesaikannya berapi-api, footage-footage nya datang sendiri menghampiri. Lapar tak terasa, rokok yang dihisap h
